Green Drinks - What's Best in Green Drinks?

Got green drinks for your health? Individuals across the globe are becoming more and more health conscious these days, especially when increasingly media reports expose the harmful ingredients added to our food, such as high fructose corn syrup and those nasty preservatives. More people are looking for alternatives and are finding answers in organic whole foods or the juices made from them called green drinks.

What are Green Drinks?

\"Smoothie Diet\"

These helpful drinks are made from the best vitamins, enzymes, amino acids and minerals that nature can provide: natural fruits, grasses and vegetables. And it is the chlorophyll from the plants that is especially helpful. Some examples of super green foods are mixed green vegetables such as tomatoes, spinach, kale, lettuce, celery, cucumber, beets, garlic, cabbage or sprouts. Some of the fruits you will find in green drinks include apples, grapes, bananas, pinapples, avocadoes, pears, lemons, and most berries.

Green Drinks - What's Best in Green Drinks?

In addition, wholesome grasses such as wheatgrass or barley grass can be added to drinks, as well as herbs and spices like parsley, basil, cilantro, chlorella and ginger. In fact some of the most nutritious drinks are simply organic wheatgrass powder alone or mixed together with alfalfa or barley juice. Others are dehydrated juice powders that can be mixed with water or your favorite juice.

Green Smoothies

Did you know that many individuals awake each morning to their own special concoction of fruits and vegetables that fall into what we now call "green smoothies." The entire idea of a green smoothie originated with Dr. Ann Wigmore. Dr. Wigmore overcame a gangrene condition as a child by infusing her body with greens over a several month period. One of her disciples is Robyn Openshaw who wrote the book The Green Smoothie Diet: The Natural Program for Extraordinary Health. In this book you will find an explanation of why green foods are extraordinary and many examples of delicious green smoothies to help regain or keep your health.

You can make a green smoothie yourself. It's fun to experiment in the kitchen and it doesn't take much time or too many ingredients. For example, you can make a basic smoothie in a kitchen blender from the following ingredients: 1 Mango, 1 cup of water, and a cup of kale. Of course there are many more exotic creations and splendid recipes available to suit your taste.

Other Drinks of Green

If you do not have time or the inclination to make your own green drink, there are plenty others available in powder form. A personal favorite is Organic Kamut Blend distributed by Purium Health Products: a blend of wheatgrass, oatgrass and alfalfa. Just add two teaspoons to a glass of water or juice and drink twice a day. But there are many green blended products on the market today that will help you receive the nutrients your body craves and is not receiving from processed foods. Others include PHion's Green Superfood Powder, a concentrated juice formula of alkalizing grasses, veggies and sprouts or Amazing Grass Green Superfood, a full spectrum of alkalizing green super foods, antioxidant rich fruits, and support herbs.

What Are the Best Green Drinks?

When it comes down to actually rating one green drink against the other, it is often a difficult task as you will discover when you research on your own. There are, however, certain items and ingredients to look for in a green product.

1. Is the drink made from certified organic ingredients? If not, put the item back on the shelf. Be sure to check the ingredients in the proprietary blend and look for organic alfalfa, wheatgrass, barley, carrot powder, cauliflower powder, spirulina, and other such rich nutrients.

2. Read customer reviews and testimonials. If you are ordering online, the company will most likely include reviews for your perusal and customer feedback.

3. The product should not contain harmful preservatives. Be sure to check the expiration date as well as date of manufacture, sometimes stamped and located on bottom of the product. Choose a manufacturer with a trusted name in business and research.

Once your green drink has met the preceding criteria, selecting a green drink is a matter of taste. Try several until you find one you will drink on a daily basis or better yet a couple you can alternate. If you have time to make your own in the kitchen with the right organic ingredients, you can custom make to your own taste and drink the nutrients fresh.

Don't hesitate to get started on green drinks!

Spinning For Weight Loss

Warning: Thinking about doing spinning for weight loss? I bet you think I'm going to talk about spinning on a bike in a class. Wrong! I'm going to show you how to spin around in a circle like a child to lose weight fast.

Think it's weird... yeah, it is, but it works.

\"Diet Smoothies\"

Forget about that spinning on a bike nonsense. It's not efficient. Here's a new twist on spinning without needing a bike.

Spinning For Weight Loss

First off, try this out. Spin around in a circle with your arms out like airplane wings. Do this for anywhere from 5-15 spins. The goal for you is to get slightly dizzy. You don't want to get extremely dizzy. That isn't productive.

It may take you a few times to find the right number of spins to do to get dizzy.

Once you find out the right number to do, do multiple sets of spins with that number throughout the day.

The reasoning behind this.

When you spin around in a circle, you are stimulating your Endocrine System to be more efficient with the release of your hormones (it controls your hormones). Now, most people have huge imbalances with their hormones and this leads to weight gain and bad health. So the spinning helps with weight loss and health because it balances out your hormones.

That's the gist of it.

If you want more information since there are a lot of details I'm leaving out, click the link below for my free 19 page report on how spinning skyrockets your weight loss.

So try this new way of spinning for faster weight loss.

3 Day Cardiac Diet Review

The 3 Day Cardiac Diet supposedly comes from the Birmingham Hospital in Alabama, hence it is also known as the Birmingham Hospital Diet. According to reports, this diet plan was designed for the use of patients who needed to lose up to 10 lbs weight quickly so they could undergo surgery.

The true origins of this diet are not clear and the Birmingham Hospital does not claim responsibility for it. Moreover, the diet now appears to have become the stuff of internet legend as there are versions of it widely known under a variety of names, including the Tuna Fish Diet, Baptist Hospital 3 day Diet, 3 day Navy Diet, 3 day Army Diet, Birmingham Cardiac Diet, Florida 3 Day Diet, American Heart Association Diet, Alabama 3 Day Diet, Hospital 3 Day Diet, and more.

Diet

However, there is a strong correspondence between the menu plans of these different versions so, for all intents and purposes, they can be treated as the same diet and comments applicable to one are substantially applicable to them all.

3 Day Cardiac Diet Review

In summary, the 3 Day Cardiac Diet comprises menu plans for breakfast, lunch and dinner covering a period of three days. The daily calorie intake is about 1,000 calories, so much of the weight loss benefit is likely obtained by the restricted calorie intake, although some claim is made that the benefit is due to chemical reaction. Eating a low level of carbohydrates will also mean that water is lost from the body.

For the plan to produce results, it's important to keep hydration levels up by drinking plenty of water: 6-8 cups is recommended. This also aids digestion.

An important source of protein for the 3 day Cardiac diet is tuna. 1/2 cup of tuna is consumed on the first two days, increasing to 1 cup on the third day. Variety and nutrition is provided with small portions of vegetables, grapefruit, banana, cheese, eggs, crackers and toast. Coffee or tea is permitted with meals. (For a detailed menu, do a quick search for my article, "3 Day Tuna Fish Diet- Menu and Diet Plan".)

Some concerns about this diet stem from the restricted levels of calories and nutrition. As the calories provided in this diet are so low, it's is likely that followers will feel hunger pangs and lower energy levels, especially by the third day. Vitamins and minerals are also low so that probably a multi vitamin supplement should be recommended as an additional source.

With only three small meals a day, your body may start to recognize that only a limited food supply is available and begin to compensate by reducing metabolism and energy levels to conserve fat reserves. This actually makes it harder to lose weight and, along with the feelings of hunger, places the body under additional stress.

The 3 Day Cardiac diet does not claim to be suitable for long term use and after 3 days you should follow a program that offers more variety in the content to provide the proteins, fats, carbohydrates and other nutrients that your body needs. More variety would also make it easier to follow this plan, as well as more enjoyable.

It is possible to follow a quick weight reduction plan that offers a more balanced and healthier range of foods. In particular, one which includes a technique known as calorie shifting and takes into account your own food preferences would be a good choice.

Following the 3 Day Cardiac Diet provides restricted calories and nutrients for its intended duration and the weight loss benefits come with some risk to health as well as bodily stress. Also, the diet is not a long term solution and any weight loss reduction could well be offset by food binging that results when your eating program returns to normal. A better approach would be to follow a dieting plan that is more likely to bring true fat loss and provide a continuing, long term loss of weight, along with a slimmer, trimmer, more attractive body shape.

Lemon Detox Diet Recipe - Make it Today

The lemon detox diet recipe is by far the most requested of any of the detox type recipes available online. This is due to the high media coverage the detox diet drink has received on American and British television. I must say though that it does worry me that many who take up this diet do so without consulting their doctor or without any preparation. Before I give you the recipe I'm going to take a little of your time to make sure that your detox experience is as rewarding and safe as possible.

Firstly as I have already said before starting any detox diet plan consult your doctor. We are all unique and just because a detox diet works safely for one person does not mean it is ideal for everybody.

Diet

Secondly don’t simply switch from you normal high junk food, high processed food, high caffeine intake and alcohol diet straight to a harsh detox diet. If you do the chances are high that you will fail. Make sure at least a few days before you start a detox plan that to start cutting down on the foodstuffs you know you are going to grave.

Lemon Detox Diet Recipe - Make it Today

Many who do detox do feel ill for at least a couple of days. Symptoms can include feeling lightheaded, nausea and feeling week. These symptoms are common and usually last a few days. If you continue to feel ill consult your doctor. If you can't cope with the symptoms then stop the detox plan.

Lemon Detox Diet Recipe

Add lemon juice from half of a freshly squeezed Lemon.

Add 2 tablespoons of Pure Maple Syrup.

Add a dash of Cayenne Pepper or ground ginger.

Using a spoon stir well. Add 4 oz of cold water then stir again.

You should also have a large glass of water each day with 1 teaspoon of salt as this helps stimulate bowl movements.

If you can't stomach the salt water drink this can be substituted with one teaspoon of senna tea replacing the salt.

Take either the salt or senna tea solution in the evening.

It is recommended you have a multi-vitamin or mega multi-vitamin each day.

You should drink at least 6 to 10 glasses of the lemon drink each day and have nothing else apart from the salt or tea drink. The detox process is meant to be followed for between 3 to 7 days.

Six Smoothie Recipes For Constipation and Acne Relief

Apple Smoothie

Mix in the blender the following.

1-2 small apples cut into wedges
1 banana
1 cup 50:50 rice dream: almond milk
¼ cup or less of raisins soaked overnight
1-teaspoon honey
1-2 cubes of ice
1-teaspoon lecithin granules
2 tablespoons flax seed oil

Start by mixing the banana and the liquids. Then add slices of apples to get the consistency you like. In all of your smoothies add flax seed oil for nice smooth skin. I also add a tablespoon of flax seed straight into the blender and the blender will chop them up.
Apple-Barley Smoothie

Mix in the blender the following.

1 cup of sliced apples with peel
1/2 cup of cooked barley
1/4 cup of soaked raisins
1/4 teaspoon of vanilla flavoring
1-1 ½ cup of 50:50 rice dream: almond milk
1-teaspoon lecithin granules
2 Tablespoons flax seed oil

Make sure you use the lecithin granules in these smoothies since lecithin helps to breakdown the flax oil into tiny droplets and makes it more digestible.

Apricot Smoothie

One cup of fresh apricots or dried apricots that were soaked overnight
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
Two oz. of prune juice
One teaspoon or more of oat ban
One teaspoon of mineral whey
One tablespoon of flax seed oil
One tablespoon of lecithin granules

Add a slight amount of distilled water or ice cubes to make the consistency to your liking. This smoothie is good for constipation and acne.

Peach-Rice Dream Smoothie

Mix in the blender:

2 fresh peaches with peel
1-cup rice dream
1/2 banana
1-teaspoon sesame seeds
1-teaspoon sunflower seed
1-tablespoon lecithin granules
2 tablespoons flax seed oil

In place of rice dream you can use almond milk. I now only use almond milk to make my smoothies. Place all of the seeds straight into the blender. This smoothie has plenty of fiber. You may want to increase the amount of sesame and sunflower seeds.

Pineapple Smoothie

Mix the following in a blender.

1-2 cups of fresh pineapples
1/2 cups apple slices
1/4-cup fresh apple juice
1/2-cup almond milk (more or less as needed)
1 banana
1-tablespoon lecithin
2-tablespoons flax seeds
2 teaspoons bran (wheat, oat or rice)

You can add more lecithin if you like. Lecithin does not have a taste. This smoothie is jam packed with fiber.

Strawberry Smoothie

Mix in a blender the following ingredients.

1 banana
1-tablespoon of lecithin granules
1-teaspoon of any type of bran
1 cup or more 50:50 rice dream: almond milk
Now add strawberries one by one with the blender on until you get the consistency you like.
1-tablespoon flax seeds
1 or 2 tablespoons sunflower seeds
1-teaspoon sesame seeds
1 tablespoon of flax seed oil

You can add liquid minerals or vitamins to these smoothies and give them an additional nutritional value.

There you have the smoothies that I make. Start making and drinking them and see the health benefits that you'll get.

Blending Tips and Tricks For Maintaining an Effective Smoothie Diet

Choosing the best blender for your budget

Again, when making a whole food Health Smoothie, DO NOT use a juicer, use a BLENDER! The best blender to use for a whole food Smoothie is a Vitamix, Bosch or K-tech. They are high-quality blenders and they come with a large container that can hold up to 60 ounces. They have a strong motor that lasts for years and save time because they quickly liquefy the mixture of vegetables, hard carrots, fruit and supplements. A high-power blender has a strong enough motor to actually blend and retain the fiber.
These high-quality blenders are investments in the 0 range, and the savings created by using a blender instead of a juicer are enormous when you consider the fact that no food volume is wasted, not to mention the decrease in health care costs which will be created by your new levels of health and energy.

\"Smoothie Diet\"

Affordable and powerful blenders

Blending Tips and Tricks For Maintaining an Effective Smoothie Diet

You may also buy a simple blender at WalMart or most drug stores for between and . These blenders work fine, provided they have a motor with at least 425-watts or more, so that they are strong enough to blend vegetables. A blender with a weak motor may not survive daily whole food Smoothies, so it's best to get a blender that has at least a 425-watt motor. Also, most of these less expensive units come with a container that is 40 oz instead of 60 oz. If the blender has a small pitcher (less than 40 oz), you may have to blend two batches instead of one. Some units such as Hamilton Beach come with a two-year limited warrantee. At that price, even if the blender breaks, it can be replaced for a minor cost. Hamilton Beach also has an 800 number and a website, http://www.hamiltonbeach.com, where you can order a larger container of up to 60 oz for only dollars extra.

I use an Oster or a Hamilton Beach for my travel blender. There are various blenders that are probably just as good, as long as they have a strong motor. I take my less expensive blender with me on the road and it fits in the trunk of my car or in my suitcase when I travel.

Transporting your Slim Smoothie

The transport container can be a two quart container with a lid that can be opened and closed as you drink or sip. It does take time to consume the 32 to 60 ounces of blended slim smoothie, so you need a good container that is spill proof. In the past, I have accidentally spilled an entire blended drink from an open container - as you can imagine, this was a mess that took a lot of effort to clean up. A good container or large straw will make it easy to drink the entire amount everyday. You can walk around in the morning getting ready for work and even take the container with you in the car on the way to work. This will allow you enough time to consume sufficient quantities of drink necessary to get the full benefits from blending.
The moment you decide to blend on a regular basis you will notice a big difference in your health and energy. The days you forget to blend you may notice less energy, stiffer joints and deeper wrinkles in the face due to dehydration. I have convinced thousands of people to start blending instead of juicing and every one of them has noticed a huge difference within nine days.

Tips for fast and efficient blending

You must have a blended drink on a daily basis to gain the maximum benefits from the whole foods. I know you can be successful if you follow these steps:

  • o Set your blender on the kitchen counter top, ready to use at all times rather than stored in a cabinet where you may forget about it. Human nature is such that if you see the blender ready to go, it is more likely that you will use it.
  • o Have a cutting board ready for some minor preparation to cut, remove stems and seeds or clean vegetables and fruit.
  • o Use sufficient water, soy or rice milk and ice in the drink so the consistency comes out smooth. The water line should come up to over half or three fourths of the blender line for proper blending of all the harder chunks of vegetables.
  • o The moment you pour out the blended concoction, immediately rinse the blender and any cutting utensils with fresh, hot water. Vegetables, fruit and sprouts easily rinse with water down the disposal after blending. However, if you wait to clean the blender pitcher later with the rest of the dishes, the thick, almost caked-on layer of vegetable matter will be much harder to clean. The common excuse of not wanting to "do the dishes" may give you a false reason to not want to blend again.

The whole process from putting vegetables, fruit and water in the blender to pouring out the completed drink, to rinsing the pitcher and utensils can be done in less than eight minutes - the time you would usually take to brew some coffee in the morning. If you don't have time to blend in the morning, then blend in the afternoon or evening. The key is that you do it on a daily basis to gain the youth-extending benefits of fat loss, increased energy and total body hydration.

Vegetable Smoothie Diets and Weight Loss - Important Things You Need to Know

You already know the value of vegetables. In case you don't, here's a rundown: They are full of antioxidants that fight free radical damage that causes cancer and other related illnesses. They reduce your risk of heart disease, diabetes and osteoporosis. They keep the immune system healthy and strong as they ward off infections and heal cuts and wounds. They are high in fiber which promotes good gastrointestinal health while allowing you to have repeated servings of salads without adding on excess calories. And because they are complex carbohydrates and take a long time to digest, they also make you feel fuller for longer periods of time. It is no wonder then, that a diet comprised mostly of vegetables always leads to improvement in health and wellbeing.

The problem with vegetables is that they're not very easy to eat. It takes know-how and skill to cook veggies that taste good and as a result, those that are mediocre-tasting are easily pushed aside in favor of the more delicious meats. For those who really can't eat vegetables in their "solid" state, turning them into smoothies allows you to meet your daily vegetable requirement to benefit your health. Because smoothies are liquid, they don't need to be chewed but simply guzzled in. A vegetable smoothie diet is also effective in weight loss. By replacing one or more meals with green smoothies everyday, you give your body optimum nutrition while staving the need to snack unnecessarily during the day.

\"Diet Smoothies\"

In the vegetable smoothie diet plan, you replace breakfast with a green smoothie. It is chock full of fiber, vitamins and minerals which will help you go through the day full of energy. You can also replace lunch with another green smoothie drink or you can choose to go solid. For dinner, make sure that you have protein, whole grains and more fruits and vegetables to keep your nutrition balanced.

Vegetable Smoothie Diets and Weight Loss - Important Things You Need to Know

If you haven't tried making vegetable smoothies before, the process is fairly simple. Cut vegetables of your choice into small chunks. Put them in a blender with water and some fruit and blend them well. You can add a little bit of honey for sweetness or you can simply have more fruit in your green smoothies to make the taste more palatable for you. As you get used to the taste of green smoothies, you can even out the portion of fruits and veggies until such time that you can make pure green smoothies using vegetables alone. There are different types of vegetables that you can use to make your green smoothies. Arugula and lettuce are just two of the many veggies you can use. Bananas and apples make good green smoothie partners as well. You can also go online to check out specific green smoothie recipes to add variety in your menu and prevent yourself from getting bored with just one taste. You can also add low fat or non fat yogurt to your green smoothies for better flavor. By drinking green smoothies, you ensure that you meet your daily vegetable requirements and get that svelte and trim figure you have so long wished for.

Vegetable Smoothie Diets and Weight Loss - Important Things You Need to Know

If you're serious about good nutrition, be sure to have a look at a Vitamix blender, there are a ton of tasty Vita Mix recipes that are very healthy.

So how does drinking smoothies help you lose weight? Smoothies when made correctly and nutritiously can fill you up so you are NOT hungry and you won't be tempted to eat forbidden high calorie foods.

Fruit Smoothie Recipes: Healthy Smoothies for Diabetics

You may think that smoothies are sweet concoctions that diabetics should avoid at all cost, and you would be wrong.
